What is your "why"? What drives you to do this important work each day?
My "why" is when I see a students' smile just because of my presence or caring about their well-being and supporting them culturally and academically
What do you enjoy most about your role?
Knowing that I never had a Student Support Worker during my high school years, it's great joy and a blessing to provide a variety of supports and resources to help my students to be successful in school.
What would you most like families to know about the role of Student Support Workers in HRCE schools?
I am fully committed in my role to help my students reach their academic or non-academic goals inside or outside of school. I also provide an Africentric culturally safe space for African Nova Scotian/African Ancestry students where they can study for a test, quiz, exam or work on their ICA, projects, assignments, homework, etc.
